What to clean your gas stove burner with?

The first thing to remember is what not to use. Never use bleach or harsh cleaning chemicals to clean your stove. These can be abrasive and can damage your gas-stove. There are many home-based cleansers that you can use to clean your gas stove effectively. First, scrape off any loose debris from the burner. Then soak for at least thirty minutes in soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. This will help in getting the surface grease off.

Using Baking Soda

Make a thick paste of baking soda and water. Spread the same thickly on the burner and the drip trays. After about half an hour, you will see that all the gunk has loosened up. Use a scrubber to clean off the baking soda and rinse the burner caps under running water. Use a soft toothbrush to ensure that it is cleaned thoroughly. This will ensure that your burner heads and caps are sparkling.

You can also use baking soda with hydrogen peroxide if your burner has been scorched badly. Sprinkle the baking soda thickly on the surface of the burners and drizzle the peroxide on them. The fizzing action will loosen up any gunk and make your burner holes grease-free. Wash off under running water and dry with a soft cloth.

You can also use baking soda and lemon to clean your stove-top. Spread baking soda generously on the stove-top. Rub a sliced lemon vigorously over it. It will remove any food stains and scorch marks. Wipe off with a soft wet cloth, and you will end up with a stove that looks as good as new.

How to clean the stove pipe is also similar. Just wash it down with baking soda to remove grime. Remember to replace it with a new pipe every six months or so to maintain safety.
